Requested box depth

Filling the full stud depth of an exterior wall is not recommended due to insulation issues. Deeper niches are ideal for interior walls only.

Requested flange width

The backside of the flange will have 1/2" less than total dimension for a mounting surface. Pictured example: 2" flange will fully cover a 2x4 stud backer.

Requested width and height

This is the inside dimension where tile will be set. If desired niche location will fall on grout lines I recommend adding at least 1/4" to both dimensions to give tolerance. Better to have more room than not enough.
